Recycling for all - flats and apartments
If you live in a flat or apartment that has shared facilities (bin store). We will be introducing and extending the new recycling services to as many residents as possible. We intended to start rolling this service out in Spring 2020, however due to Covid-19 pandemic, we have been unable to continue this work at the current time.
Communal bin stores and shared facilities
Communal bin stores will have separate bins for the mixed (co-mingled) collection of plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, cans, tins, foil, aerosols and glass. Please rinse off any food from the containers and place in the correct recycling bin loose (not in plastic bags etc).
Communal recycling bin (co-mingled / mixed recycling)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic bottles
- Plastics tubs and trays
As with the recycling collection services provided to all other residents, we will also collect paper and card / cardboard separately in another recycling bin. Please squash down any cardboard, remove as much plastic tape as possible and any non-recyclable packaging such as polystyrene and plastic bags and film. These items can be placed in the black bin / general waste bin (for non-recyclable items).
The TMBC Waste Services Team are busy assessing the space and capacity you have in your existing bin stores and their current set up. We want to ensure that we can accommodate as much of the new recycling scheme to as many residents as possible with the space available.
Residents in each block of flats / apartments will receive information when the new bins are installed advising of the changes. All the bins will be freshly labeled to clearly show which items go into which bin. Once the new service is underway, we will look into provision of a communal food recycling collection point wherever possible..
